Former Maharashtra chief minister and Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Uddhav Thackeray, is set to participate in the upcoming winter session of the state legislature starting on Monday, according to opposition leader Ajit Pawar.
Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, had been absent during the monsoon session held in Mumbai.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Pawar confirmed Thackeray’s presence for the winter session. Notably, Thackeray had earlier declared his intention to step down as the chief minister and also resign from his position in the Upper House of the state legislature after making this announcement in June of the current year.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, led by Thackeray, faced a collapse following a rebellion led by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and several MLAs against the party’s leadership. Subsequently, Shinde assumed the role of chief minister, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis sworn in as his deputy.
